    Hi all,

I planted 1 ft Cedars 10 years ago.
I thought I would let them grow and then trim them into a hedge.
What is the best way to do this without killing them.
They now stand 10-12 feet high.
The trees are native to Tobermory Ontario, Canada.
    I don't know the type.

    Thank you

It would have been better to start shearing them from a small size. Now the interior will lack density. You may have problems with them deteriorating if you now try to contain them with close shearing. Then there is the matter of the effort and bother involved with shearing annually a 10'-12' high hedge. If you could possibly just let them keep growing naturally it would probably be much better on them and you.
