Click My Settings (first item on green bar at top of page), click Edit Avatar and follow upload instructions.
I'm allowed to edit the Avatar by using on of the Avatars listed. But as to upload one, I am not given that option. This is the first forum that I have seen that has this issue. Do you suppose I have to make a certain amount of post or something like that before I am given that option?
Yes. A custom avatar is allowed once you become a Registered Plus user. Have a look at the thread Benefits of Registering and Posting | UBC Botanical Garden Forums.
