Please help identify purple plant

    I live in Wilmington, NC and saw this plant yesterday at a local country club - summer plant. Looks like a holly with it s berries but the leaves are soft. Plant is about 2 to 3 feet tall. thanks for any help.

    I would guess some type of Capsicum annum.

    I live in Rocky Point, NC and I bought a plant that looks a little like this. Mine is small, but has deep purple pods/seeds on it. They had it planted in their yard.

    I found out it was an ornamental pepper plant. They currently have them in stock at Home Depot for about $5 each. The berries are actually peppers and are edible but I am told they are pretty hot. There are different varieties but I really like the black pearl. Bought seeds on EBAY. Beautiful dark purple plant!
