I have this maple tree growing in my yard, it is fairly young as the trunk is only about 3" in diameter. For the past few years when the leaves have come out in the spring they are very red then turn green -- this year they are even more vibrant, yet don't seem to be turning green.... either way, can anyone id this particular maple? Please.

Norway maple, 'Schwedleri', 'Deborah' or an unnamed seedling of similar coloring.

'Crimson King' does not turn green. And it is not the only purpleleaf cultivar by any means. The large old trees down here in Seattle consist of 'Crimson King', 'Faassen's Black' and 'Schwedleri'. Other kinds will be represented among younger specimens. Crimson SentryTM in particular has become prevalent here.
