What are some attractive cacti and succulents that can tolerate living outdoors year-round in zone 8a? (annual average minimum temp of 10º to 15ºF, -9.5º to -12.2 ºC)

Can any Agave tolerate this climate?

How about some that produce nice-looking flowers... Suggestions?

Opuntia Phaeacantha is apparently hardy to -8 Celsius or more. Here's a pic of mine...

The big factor like mentioned earlier, is the rain, I have lots of Agaves and Cacti that can handle really cold temperatures, but not at all if they are wet. Also you need to make sure that they have really well draining soil so the roots don't rot.

Many cacti and agave native to cold - and dry - climates, such as extensive areas of western North America.
