I just attempted my first batch of grafts. I had a very specific question regarding the poly bag used to maintain humidity.

Should you seal the bag air tight? Or allow it to be partially opened to avoid fungus. Or both. My concern is caused by my first two failed attempt at rooting AP cuttings. I had them covered and both times the cuttings got a white furry fungus on them. I don’t wan this to happen to my grafts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yep I found it useful. I grafted 3 maples yesterday - Ariadne, Taylor and Ukigomo, following Bodwen's technique. I attempted a few last year but they failed... but try try again !

Your Fujiyama garden is fantastic... looking forward to some spring pics :)

Thank you Hayzee for the link. I came across it a few days ago and proceeded to graft a Red Pygmy, Shishigashira, Red Dragon, Sango Kaku and Viridis. My grafts look exactly like the photos in the link. Hopefully they take. i will keep you posted, thank you for your knowledge.

Thanks for the information Dick. It was only to expand my own personal collection, but I shall pull the graft apart.

    Regards

This seems to be covered by
    COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 2100/94
    of 27 July 1994
    on Community plant variety rights

It seems as though Article 15 of the appropriate legislation does not forbid propogation for personal purposes
You can read the total legislation at
