I was given this cutting thorough a third party this summer/fall. I was told it was called a moses something (plant.bush,shrub etc) But I cannot find out what it really is or its care requirements. A few months ago it started some little buds below all its foliage but they died off before they could develope fully.Other than that its done pretty well with the exception of its lower leaves browning up and dieing on a regular basis.Any help or imput is much appriciated. thanks Matt http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h73/Myatesomaha/Mosesbush001.jpg
A different last word of the common name. Ha...just being wry. They are two common names for the same plant! Also called Moses-in-a-basket, Moses-in-the-boat) Oyster plant, Boat Lily. Its botanical name is Tradescantia spathacea (previously Rhoeo discolor or R. spathacea, I believe). It seems to like water & lots of sun at my house.
Ok thanks guys now I have another question.I was sold this plant. As moses in the cradel but it has different coloring/pattern on the top of the leaves.Why is that? Also the cutting I recived is very fleshy and thick while this one isnt.I'm just trying to tell the diffrence between the two. thanks Matt

I have the same plant and it took me like a month and half to figure out what it was : ( (not fair) I have the veriegata, yet it won't bloom? (crazy little plant) any advice for that one?
