I just received a spider plant that is very full and healthy as far as I know and would love to trim it back and start new plants in smaller pots. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

very easy to cut back and start babies.
Cut the baby from the lead stem, ( remove the long stem that is attached to the baby and the main plant , it is not need for anything else.)

When I have done this I have sometimes used a rooting hormone that is applied to the bottom of the spider baby (wet the bottom first and dip it in the the powder or gel). Sometimes I don't bother and they root well anyway.
Put the baby in a pot, small at first (not enormous unless you are putting several in together)
Water the same as the mother, and treat it the same. They take to transplanting very easily. When it gets to be the size you want, if you don't want any more babies, keep it pruned.
