Is this a cortinarius of some sort?

Mushroom season has begun in the southern Rockies. This photo taken in a coniferous forest, about 10,000 ft (3050m) asl. These are one of the first mushrooms to come up. They seem to like decaying wood.

It's the Cascade Mycological Society's online forum. It's for members and non-members alike, and the discussion is heavily Oregonian. It's a very small group of active posters from the area.

I read way too much mushroom material online, is what it's really all about.

    cheers

Not to be confused with the other CMS; the Colorado Mycological Society. I'll check out your CMS website.

    Cheers
