Ya got Me??

    Does anyone know what kind of tree/ shrub this is? It also has some fungus growng on it. Can anyone ID that as well?

    the disease you have on the plum is called black knot caused by a fungus called dibotryon morbosa.

    these cankers are the fruiting bodies of the fungus but the main boy of the fungus may be as much as 10-15cm from the edge of the canker

    the only remedy is to prune out the infection by cutting the branch about 15cm away from the last of these cankers you have shown. remember to disinfest the saw/pruners with a little alcohol after each cuttinf so that you do not spread the infection to an other part of the tree. do not compost the twig just throw them into the green garbage.

    try searching the web for this disease. one of the extension offices in your area ahould have a guide to thsi disease for your area
