I have a Russian Vine, which up until this year was doing really well.
It is still growing, but last years foliage is turning red and dying - what's wrong with it?
The new growth is still green and it's spreading well, it is positioned in full sun/partial shade - just like the book tells me, but the old growth is just dying off. I don't want to lose it completely. Help much appreciated.

The usual problem is that it grows far too much and swamps everything within 50 metres. Think very carefully whether you really want such an invasive plant!

I have a large unsightly wall for the vine to cover, so growing lots isn't a problem, and there aren't any other plants within 50 metres for it to choke out - just concerned it might be dying.

    Hi Newt

thanks for the info - I'm now more concerned about an icky odour from it! Fortunately it's not near the house or seating areas in the garden, I'll leave it alone for a bit and see what happens to it.
