I know you’re an ‘esteemed contributor’ with armfuls of knowledge regarding the growing of Japanese Maples, however even my 8 year old daughter knows there aren’t 39 days in April lol ;-)

Lol, that's my clumsy fingers on the keyboard again. I'll leave it as it is and just do an edit. Thanks for letting me know.

25th May 2021 and now the leaves have opened to all their splendour. The green maples are wonderful IMO.

I went to the nursery for a different maple but walked out with a Ki hachijo. I don’t have a lot of room and this will likely be my only palmatum!

One specimen maple in a garden is as good as a forest full of them. Yours is stunning.

Ahh that's why you have leaves. Lots of work, but worth it when you see your trees N.

    Yes indeed. Thanks!
The advantages of planting in pots so I can swap places for good contrasts.

And for protection from hot sun .
Something other members of the forum have highlighted as they can move the pots as and when necessary.

Plus you can cut them right back when they take up to much room in the garden and you can't get round the things !!! Some pics of my large 80ltr one getting too busy in the branch department in early spring , then in early summer out nicely but way too big now, then finally decided to cut right back in summer and re shape for next season and breath some new life into it for seasons to come. Sacrificed the fall colours for this year with this one knowing my smaller one would look good this year after it's re pot and root trim last fall. Done exactly the same with many large trees this year in pots . just bringing them back down to size for easier keeping otherwise they will have to be moved on. :)

    That is an awesome size!

Every now and then i visualize how my garden will look like with my maples all grown like that! Lovely!
There is a vid on youtube from a Crazy Conifers etc and he has huge maples in giant pots. That's my goal right there
