Appreciation: Mushroom Lamp

I've been looking for a desk lamp and came across this.
Are you really a fungi geek? Prove it.

 

... I think these lamps sort of freak me out a bit ... sort of war of the worlds meets teletubbies? :-) :-) :-)

These lamps look like large tasty bread items. Big floury rolls.
Would be great in a bake shop.

Hmm...wonder what is included in production process to discourage small creatures from making similar judgements!
the lampshade is removed from the mold and dehydrated to prevent any further growth.
Ah, but is it de-tastified as well?
The lamps are indoors, you say. Ha! Mice know no human terminology!

Wonder if there is any experimentation going on as to making the products less...fungal-looking. Not a problem for me but perhaps in time appeal (sales) to a larger audience might be desirable. If wall panels and lamps could be produced in, say, a neutral uniform shade, maybe planed for smoothness and paintability---even sold pre-painted/finished---I think a lot more folks would become interested in welcoming fungus into their homes.

I am cheered to read this and other articles describing development and utilization of the many useful, important, and unique attributes of this ancient form of life. A glimmer of hope for our continued cohabitation on this planet!
