I would not normally post AGMs here but am hoping to help spread the word about this new mycological society for BC. Contact them for details on how to become a member.

"The purpose of the society is:
To educate members and the public about Mycology.
To contribute to the scientific study of Mycology.
To collectively help members become better at identifying mushrooms.
To promote an appreciation for the role that fungi play in our ecosystem.
To bring a diverse group of fungi enthusiasts together to participate in identification forays, lectures and community events.
To support those pursuing an education in the field of Mycology and those who are already working in the field.
To advocate and engage various levels of government when needed on issues relating to the field of mycology or issues impacting our members.

    History
Currently the society is based out of Prince George, British Columbia. The society was just created in 2021 and the hope is to build a strong membership base that will allow the society to offer identification foray’s by finding volunteers who may be able to lead foray’s in other parts of Northern British Columbia.
We held 3 mushroom forays in the Fall of 2021 in and around Prince George and look forward to hosting more in 2022.

    What is a mushroom foray?
NBCMS general definition of a mushroom foray is members meeting at a specified place and time to try and identify mushrooms in the great outdoors. Members try to id all types of mushrooms while on foray’s both inedible and edible in the hopes of expanding our knowledge and just maybe finding that unique mushroom that hasn’t been described by science or known to the area.

    Ethics
The society encourages its members and the public to:
Make sure to respect private property and receive the necessary permission from owners
Leave the place you picked mushrooms in the same or better state than you left it by taking your garbage with you as well as picking up a pieces of garbage that is not yours when you can
To be respectful and aware of the surrounding plants when walking to your mushroom find.
