I found a small wild tree with large dark pink flowers at the shores of the Lake Valdeku near Tallinn. Obviously a Prunus of some kind.
I haven't seen Prunus flowers such dark pink as this here. What is it? A cherry, almond, apricot, plum, peach?

My first thought was an almond.

At 59°N? This is the same latitude as Haines or Skagway ;-)

    Thanks, Ron!
I haven't seen any wild peach trees before, but as the area is in active recreational use, it's possible, that someone dropped a peach seed there. Proximity to the lake and wide exposition to the sun keeps micro climate warmer than it is typical here and a peach may survive even without any winter protection.
