We were just over on the island and I came across several plants during our hikes that I'm looking to put names to.

#1) Growing on rocks above the high tide line (but not by much and possibly exposed to ocean spray). Leaves are velvety and flowers have a little bit of red/orange inside. Growing from small cracks in the rocks - sort of reminds me of strawberry, but not.

#2) Growing along the trail near salal bushes, possibly pinedrops? Pink ones were growing on the more exposed/sunny side of the trail and yellow were growing on the opposite side of the trail less than 1 m away.

#3) Saw many of these bushes, thought at first they were false azalea but leaves don't look right. Second image shows the new growth. Leaves feel quite firm and appear to be evergreen.

#4) These are growing in wet areas and even close to the shoreline. I believe some sort of monkey flower.

    1. Villous Potentilla: Potentilla villosa (I think)
    2. Vancouver Groundcone: Kopsiopsis hookeri, parasitic
    3. Evergreen Huckleberry: Vaccinium ovatum - fabulous plant for the garden . . . evergreen with great spring and fall colour, delicious berries . . .
    4. Monkeyflower: Erythranthe guttata, an annual, self-seeds prolifically
