    Hello all,
Could someone tell me what this plant is and what kind of treatment it needs. They are particularly scruffy plants but I don't want to over prune them.

The leaves come from a central clump, as does whats left of the flower stem. Could it be a Day Lily?

This looks like a liatris or otherwise called gayfeather but by the picture the flower stalk looks spent. If it was purplish, pink, I'd guess it to be liatris but don't know for sure.

It looks as though these two photographs are taken from two different plants. The flower stem is very different in each photograph. As suggested the first looks like daylily. I cut back the foliage before new green growth emerges in the spring and the plants look beautiful by the time it flowers.

I am not certain what the plant in the second photograph is, however, I have collected seed from Liatris and I am sure that that is not your plant.

The second looks like the seed head of Oenothera biennis (Evening primrose)
