Forest-dwelling, small, low-growing, purple flower

Can someone please identify this plant for me - it grows in our back yard, which is forest. It reaches a maximum height of about two inches.

 

The flower looks alot like Spring Beauty. Claytonia virginica

I'm kinda new at this but it also looks like hepatica.

 

The leaves are totally the wrong shape for Hepatica I'm afraid.

 

Flower is actually quite different as well.

 

Don't be discouraged, though, debbieg - making the attempt to identify plants is a great way to learn about them. My suggestion on this one for you is to compare the number of petals on the Hepatica you are familiar with vs. this photograph of a Claytonia.
