Last year we had snow on the ground on February 13 and 14, thank goodness we've been spared this year. But then again, I've seen it in March in years past. Anyway, it's nice to see more and more flashes of colour in the yard. These Iris histrioides and Iris reticulata are always a reliable early riser and shrugged off the snow they were exposed to last year. I'm thrilled to see this sport of Galanthus elwisii come back this year. I discovered it last year and contacted a chap in the U.K. who has quite the number of Galanthus sports and this particular one is one he's never seen before. It appears to be multiplying and I've gone from just a couple to at least half a dozen.
