I haven't seen much evidence of autumn here. A few locust and silver maple leaves around but none of the JM's are showing color change. Found a single random colorful leaf by my back door this morning however. Had a few visitors as well.

I thought I wouldn't buy any more trees before next year.. Well I failed :)

Received today these four that I got from ebay. I will have to protect them as they probably were under polytunnels

    2x Deshojo
    IMG_5049.jpg IMG_5050.jpg
I'll have to cut the rootstock suckers

    1x Ukigomo

    1x Seiryu

I am a bit gutted that one deshojo has its main and nicest branch damaged (big wound, all around, starting to get black) quite far from top (and will likely have to be cut..)

Don't fret over it Chris. Deshojo is such a strong grower, it will be full of wonderful new branches come next May.

    Thanks D

    Crossed fingers :)
I had to buy again a Deshojo. The one I showed here and that fried in July hasnt had any second flush and has had no leaves since then.. I just left it in a pot just in case it's not entirely dead and has enough to come back to life next year... Although the roots didn't look good.

Is it better to cut the branch now, rather than leaving the wound open to disease?

Yes cut it out now Chris.
Regarding the one in the pot that you think is dead. Have you done a fingernail test to see if it's green under the bark ? If it is then you might be quite surprised at how it will return to life in the Spring.

Most of my lot aren't doing anything interesting yet - the first place I look every morning when I come out of the house is my Osakazuki to see how the colours are coming on. Slowly and surely, we're starting to get there...

It has been mentioned that this thread Dash of autumn colour
would be an ideal one for all the 2021 maple colours. I know a lot of you want to continue posting on here, but it would show the 2021 colours when doing a search for this year if we posted on @dicky5ash new thread.

I still have no Fall colours at the moment, but I found some from last year. Since they're from 2020, I'm posting them here. Please forgive me if the background isn't the best.

one week later and the coral bark is at its fall color peak I believe. Frost tonight and the leaves will really start falling, had to get one last shot. The Viridis is in now in the green house for the winter

I love that excited anticipation feeling I get when a maple has shipped and is on its way. I can’t help but refresh the tracking every or so. I’m looking forward to sharing.
