Lacking a thread here, 'Hubbs Red Willow' through the seasons... May 2021 June 2021 July 2020 November 2020
ThanksD! I liken it to the Hunger Games, and tell all the bare little trees at the end of November "may the odds be ever in your favour!" before I leave them to it... fingers crossed this year they all seem to have come through unscathed!
I keep thinking I should get this cultivar. Yours and @wind-borne specimen is convincing me more and more.
If you are looking for a nudge in that direction mine haven't started leafing yet. LOL A couple from last fall where my smaller one achieved full color though a bit more orange, the larger one was stripped bare before peaking. small one in the fog both unfinished
Are you going to take out those small lower branches G ? Or leaving them to help thicken the trunk ? It is such a pretty tree what ever you do.
I find lower branches are quite attractive when fully leafed out as seen further up thread, for how long? The lowest branch just above graft a few inches above ground will definitely not be forever but I doubt you can even see that though it's about 2' long.
