I have a coral bark that doesn’t seem to be doing all that great. A number of leaves turned yellow and have fallen. It does need repotting but I do ensure it’s watered. Today I moved it and found this weird seed looking fungus? Or insect? In the drain holes? Any ideas?

    ???

Before I enlarged the photos, I thought it might be slow-release fertliser.

    But frankly, I don't know.

Whatever, new, free-draining soil will probably help.

Maybe it was some kind of berry that was crushed under the pot, rotted, and these are the seeds and the mushy stuff is the remains of the berry? They almost looked like rose seeds but I don't think they are 100% right for that - there are a huge number of plants that produce fruits or berries containing lots of tiny seeds, I don't know if you have anything in the garden that might be where they come from?

Was your container up on those feet one can buy to raise pot off patio surface by an inch or so?

If YES than maybe a rodent was tucking some berries or other seeds (bird seed?) away.

I'm curious how bizarre are the critters where you live.

    Here where I live:
A big, long garter snake and I scared each other a few days ago. We hardly ever meet which is fine with us both, I think. Then I noticed my sweet little tree frog was missing from his usual hide-away in the bee condo and I feared that the snake had eaten him. Slugs - okay; tree frog - not okay (in my garden anyway.) But today I see my tree frog is back and the snake is off somewhere so peace has been restored. That's as bizarre as it gets around here. :-)
