Clearly we need to study further the effects of verbal abuse and namecalling on Japanese maples: they become determined to prove us wrong!

The dull boy has put out enough new growth that I'm trying to stake and guide that shape - if he puts out a similar show next year once he's bigger he should be a sight to see:

I find this cultivar has the most delicate of leaves. Needs so much protection from the sun. But worth having when you look at that new growth.

Oh that's definitely the case - I have both mine under an acrylic rain-awning so they never get anything but filtered sun (and even that for only a few hours in the morning) and they love it, but now we've found the 'golden spot' there's no way I can move them anywhere else in the garden!

It can take years to find that perfect place for a maple, but when you do, then that's it. It stays there, no matter what !!

Maybe too early to really show the peach colour, but a very delicate green and it has some flowers :

3rd April 2022 and the forecasts says no more frosts on the horizon. So I'm hoping my Peaches and Cream will be OK. It is a delicate cultivar in my garden.

It's looking wonderful N. And people say they can't tell tne difference between this cultivar and White peaches. Those pink beautiful finger tips of yours says it all.

I find this cultivar very susceptible to the sun. Glad to see some shade there Xi.

10th May 2022 and Peaches and cream really would like some rain on the leaves. It is a delicate cultivar where I am in Southern England.

After such a promising start mine is in a sorry state as well D, to be honest I don't think I should have potted it up, it seems to be alive though so fingers crossed.
Oh, and the rain is on the way, just started here.

The drying winds has not helped this delicate cultivar at all N. Let's hope this little bit if rain will refresh those leaves.

Ha -I'm nearly 15 years late to this conversation but just had to add as I'm browsing these cultivar threads: I completely agree with the aforementioned nurserymen! In fact, I only last year reluctantly bought a P&C even though I think it is such a ridiculous name I'm embarrassed to even mention it to visitors. But since I don't get a lot of visitors and don't really care THAT much about the name, when I came across a really nice mature specimen at a good price, I bought it. Anyhow, point is, I was hesitant to buy this one because of the name, and maybe that same buyer hesitancy was being noted by the nurserymen trying to make a living selling trees.

Hi @kines better late than never as they say. So how does your new Peaches and Cream look? Any photos to share?
And I agree, when a bargain maple is in front of you, it's so hard to say no, whatever the name !!
