Acer palmatum 'Koto maru'

    I just received this last week so I thought I would go ahead a post a picture of it so you could see the structure of the tree.

    This has turned out to be a very choice tree. The tiny leaves and the bright spring color is very nice. This I understand is the green version of 'Beni hime'?

    Thanks for the picture, I have a smaller 'Koto maru' arriving this week and had not seen a picture of one that large. Looks nice, I think I am going to like it.

    Today while I was checking my witches brooms for seeds to respond to Katsura’s post I noticed an interesting growth habit on Koto maru. I saw on most of the branches of the tree a smaller second set of leaves forming at the base of the petiole of the older larger leaves. This is quite interesting on this cultivar and I had not noticed until today. The photos below are taken today.

    this little leaf dwarf has outstanding color. It seems to be pretty hardy
