Acer palmatum 'Olsen's Frosted Strawberry'

Absolutely!!!

 

19th July 2021 and my Olsen's Frosted Strawberry is proving to be quite the favourite of my family this year.

 

My Olsen's today, still holding it's red and looking much happier in a more shaded in the garden.

 

Olsen's Frosted Strawberry still putting out tons of new growth:

Mine is missing the super vivid pinks this year, but it's trying its best:

 

That's the fun thing about this wonderful hobby of ours. You just don't know exactly what you will get each year. They do keep us guessing.......

 

25th April 2022 and I think this morning my Olsen's Frosted Strawberry lived up to it's name. Those new leaves unfolding really do look frosted.

 

Some pics of mine, I find it generally to be a slow grower but it does not help when slugs or snails climb into the branches to munch the leaves. I guess they are the culprits as slime was left behind - looks more like Olsen's Snotted Strawberry in the second pic! Contrast with seiryu in third pic.

 

Doesn't quite have the same culinary appeal to it, but it did make me laugh! Yours is a lovely-looking tree, despite the slugs' best efforts!

 

So are we having that as a synonym M...........

 

11th May 2022 and I think my Olsen's Frosted Strawberry is having a bit of a rest year this year. But the leaves in the rain are quite nice to look at still.

 

My little specimen that's been hiding from the sun, possibly a bit too much if the colour is anything to go by, think it'll be staying where it is for now though.

 

Keep it protected from the sun N, I find it likes just a little to keep it healthy and red. Too much sun and the lobe tips brown and crinkle.
Yours is looking just about perfect IMO.

 

9th November 2022 and this is one that I thought I lost through the difficult Summer. But it seems to have survived ATM at least.

23rd June 2023 and a struggling Olsen's Frosted Strawberry in my garden this year. Lost a few branches after last years drought. But what it has got, is some nice colours.

 

My little specimen out in the rain this morning.

 

Love the leaves but unfortunately another small tree blew over and broke the lower branch off so now the tree is not the best looking. Learned a valuable lesson about storing trees close together. Hopefully as it matures it will fill in.

 

20th April 2024 and a challenge to any of the Ghosts IMO my Olsen's Frosted Strawberry doing quite well today and just leafing out.
