So just got the key to the door R. That's an amazing colour it has atm. When they look like this, you really don't want it to end.
Good morning, I was a bit nervous last night ac the temperatures dropped very quickly and a clear sky showing all the stars. But it dropped to +2°C, close but just OK. So as I was up in my garden at a ridiculous time even for me, I thought I would take a few photos. They are Kinran, Ogi tsuma gaki, Emma, Koto ito komachi and Green dissectum.
Good morning D, All your maples are really starting to leaf nicely now, it s great to see that. I had very slight frosts 2 days in a row so I spray them in the morning, some small damages on upper leaves though, your trick is the best thing I learned this year.
Good morning I, so glad you ate getting some protection with this method. It does work, but I have found over the years it's around 80% effective on average. There will, always be an odd leaf that gets hit. But overall it's a saviour. I'm around 97% effective this year, so very am pleased. I will be spraying again tonight and tomorrow, darned frosts are returning again. Good luck to you also I.
Good morning, well a few hours after I sprayed my trees, the wind we have here now has dried it all out so very quickly. So I took these few to share. They are Murasaki Kiyohime, Deshojo, Lionheart and Yasemin.
Not just the colours I, that shape you've got is very Japanese. I like it a lot. Is the fabric for wind protection?
Thank you D, I prunned it in spring before bud breaks. Not for protection, it is at my ex wife's...home and the fabric is just to separate the little 'garden' if we can call it like that between the one of her neighbours.
Thank you very much D, It's not that hard, just takes some time of meticulous selection of branches and applying the rule of only 2 branches per node when possible, especially at the very end of each.
‘Rhode Island Red’ is always the first one to leaf out. (x3) ‘Sensu’ is one of the last, but getting there. (x2) It is my favorite. A very dark seedling at the beginning of its third year, it reminds me of ‘Black Lace’. And some not so dark second year atropurpureum seedlings.
Viridis, Autumn Moon, Waterfall, Shin Deshojo and Sango Kaku. A question about that Sango. Some of the branches have been dying off. I trimmed a bunch but that back one looks like a goner. Should I trim that back one all the way down?
Definatly J, and as D @LoverOfMaples said, make the front branch the new leader. I would also be tempted to do some creative pruning of that new leader at the end of June, to enable some lower growth.
