So before I unwrap my trees I managed to get done last night, here is a photo of my most delicate of all my maples moments ago, Red feather. Yes its underneath, lol. My garden looked very spooky, could be Halloween!!!

Going to give it another 30 minutes before removing and then a light spray with rain water.

OK, so an hour later and here are a few that seemed to have escaped last nights frost, so that is a cheerful thing to post.

You have brought them on brilliantly P. I'm very fond of Butterfly and I think it is a very stable cultivar compared to many varigated maples that are on the market atm.

Is that an airlayer I see on 'Zaaling'?

'Zaaling' is added to my 'want list'.

This one D seems to go on forever in the Autumn. Each year the reds are amazing and it is so hardy. Definatly if you can 'get this one'.

    Ryusen flowers.
I have about 2 dozens seedlings from last year that I put in small pots, some a bit twisted, and many more in a grow-tray. So far, it's hard to say how much of the characteristics from the mother-plant will stay after a couple of years, but one thing is sure, it's very fertile.

The joy of seedlings... I did not collect any seeds last fall, but there are new arrivals from 2 years ago. The picture below is a seedling from what I believe was ‘Orangeola’. I also have few hopefuls from A. j. ‘Aconitifolium’, very exciting... I collect the seeds from public parks.

Good morning everyone and it is a good morning, as the overnight frost that was forecast never materialised.
So a few minutes ago as the light broke through for another day I took these. The cloud is also clearing for some nice sunshine.

Good morning Alain, will you thin out those that don't resemble the parent or out of curiosity allow them to grow and move them on to other people in your area?

Good morning D, I am glad your maples were spared from the frost. Can't say the same for my Crimson Queen, look like he got a bad beating from cold winds overnight, almost all of his leaves are drooping now. I thought he was sheltered enough, but it seems I was worng. Hope he manages to recover from this

So very sorry to hear this Lorenzo about your Crimson Queen, I don't think anybody across the whole of Europe was spared. But remembering E @emery paragraph, telling everyone that the second flush is always around 6 weeks after they are hit, so this should give hope. We all know this, but it is good to have the reminder when we get so stressed about our trees.
BTW not all of mine were spared, my system is only on average about 80% effective at protecting my maples. But 80% is better than a total wipeout.
My fingers are crossed that your Crimson Queen recovers, 'I'm sure it will'.
