Good afternoon A, I think your trees might be the last to leaf out on the maples forum this year looking at your photo. But thats the beauty of an international forum, all different periods to enjoy at different times.

    Hope you are well

Well after A @sun posted here photo of a very cold day in Austria, I thought I would go out in my garden and take a few photos of ever swelling buds in some warm sunshine.

A little early for the classic new look but why not celebrate this threads year anniversary anyway.

Wow yes one year on and still in lockdown, but what a lot of lovely maples to enjoy. Love the scarlet and greens of your Mikawa Yatsubusa.

Happy anniversary everyone (of us) ! ;-)

Here, the schools stayed open but the bars and restaurants, cinemas, etc. reopened in June 2020 but were closed again in November.
Then in February there was a "curfew", from 8 AM to 6 PM, because of the surge of contaminations partly due to what we call here "the English variant". Shops stayed open.
Yesterday, a regional lockdown was decided, including the Paris region. "Essential shops" only will stay open, that includes bookshops, florists, DIY stores and... hairdressers'. Must really phone my local one before the damn virus expands to my region, otherwise, it will be another "hair clipper massacre".
In other regions like mine, the "curfew" will be extended to 7 PM.
The problem is we aren't able to vaccinate enough people quickly enough, so it's a very tense situation at the moment. The sale of anti-depressants has rocketed, and most people don't really know what to think and what to do.

I feel priviledged, a pensioner living in a small suburban town, with a garden where I can enjoy my maples, the flowers of the Japanese quince, the Prunus and now (in the background), the white flowers of a cherry tree...

    'Koto hime'.
Each year it has a lot of flowers, but so far I haven't been able to gather any, I hope this time I will have some seeds to exchange :

I almost had a heart attack. Frankly, I was overjoyed for our team, but I also really felt sorry for Wales...

They are amazing J, your Baby ghost is what I would like mine to look like, but tbh mine is quite pathetic. What a fantastic contrast with the Emerald lace. A great grouping....
