I started growing a giant sequoia from seeds a little less than two years ago. Since then one of them has grown to a size of about 17cm tall. First I had two of them but at one point the branches started turning grey and dying. We managed to save one of them by cutting the greying branches off. But it has battled with dying branches ever since.
It is in a large pot with good drainage so I don't know what the problem is.
    Any help? IMG-20210122-WA0001.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0002.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0003.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0001.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0002.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0003.jpg IMG-20210122-WA0001.jpg

Too warm, and probably too moist - the seedlings are prone to fungal diseases in these conditions. It really should have been outdoors from the start, and planted out by the end of the first summer rather than kept in a pot.

Sequoiadendron giganteum is very hard to keep as a potted tree in our area. I think they resent dry, hot summers. I also think they need a rather deep container for the roots. I used to have one that would lose its lower branches, so I pruned it hard and began training it as a bonsai, but it died after a couple of years, probably because of a cold spell in winter.

But in the ground, there are many around here that look fine, some of them quite big.
