Thanks for the wonderful pics guys. Westonbirt really is one of the best gardens for maples in the world. Aside from the future symposium (under discussion) there are also plans for a Maple Society guided visit to Westonbirt prior to 2024. This would be guided either by a current or former curator as I understand it, so well worth it.
@dicky5ash even on the ground the leaves look wonderful R. And the structure of such mature trees is even better once they drop. Great photos of a different perspective to maples. Enjoyed these !!!
Wow, really nice to see the label (Miss Piggy) correctly done according to the new standard!! I think that's the first I've seen in a major arboretum. This said, 'Miss Piggy' really gives me the creeps, the fasciated stems just look so diseased... :) Different tastes, my wife really liked it and we tried to graft one, but unfortunately it didn't take. Love the leaf litter, one of my favorite things. I like brown paper packages too, but that's a digression. :P
Hahahahaha I know what you mean..the leaf colour and shape was appealing..I have some seeds..maybe I’ll get piglets!!
