Last year we had 3 golden raintrees planted. they are about 6ft high. beginning to bloom Deer resitant, only nobody told the deer! What bug is also eating them and what do we do about? Thanks
Looks like the yellow patches are turning brown and then tissue is dropping out, as though it is something like a fungus.
It is possible that the holes in the leaves are caused by those brownish fungal-looking spots which dry out and leave holes. I spent some time yesterday reading up on Shot Hole Disease (Coryneum blight) but it apparently only afflicts stone fruits such as peach, nectarine, apricot, almonds. Perhaps, as @Ron B says it could be another type of fungus causing the holes. Until you can find out what the problem actually is, I suggest you remove and clean up any affected leaves, putting them in the garbage; not the compost.
