Busy morning in the garden today, just sitting down for a cool drink but found these to put on first.
Purple ghost and Black Lace making some good new growth. Ariadne still performing well, Seiryu is a multiple of colours atm as is Brocade.
Wakehurst pink is getting more of those pink tinges and Baby ghost is very pretty but still not getting the reticulation. It is very young so proably 2021 will see that.
But Grandma ghost, I will let this mornings photo speak for itself.
    Now for the lemonade !!!

    Hello!

Lisa: yes, in fact practically all my maples come from purchases made over the Internet (to be more specific, to UK sellers who are on ebay haha). It is a pity (or a joy, depending on how you look at it) that there is not much variety around here.

Acerholic: it is true, it is curious that there are few women. Years ago I participated in a palm forum and the same thing happened: more men than women. They generally prefer small, flowering plants. In succulent forums (cacti and that) it is more even.

Magnificent maples. I do not know how many times I have said it already, and I do not know how many more I will say it, but there it is hahaha

zfrittz: ufff, 44 degrees. Andalusian summers are extreme. My family is from the province of Seville, where temperatures also rise to 40ºC, and many do not leave the pool. It's amazing and wonderful that you can grow maples in your area.

My 'Sango kaku' is still greenish but I wish the green would hold longer.

    D,
There is a 5' greenbelt of community property separating us but the dune is rather steep and the neighbor has 3/4 acre with the house situated aways away and has done no landscaping in our direction so the line is fuzzy as far as I'm concerned.

As for the frosting, fog leaves a thinner residue than rain, mist, etc. LOL

Good morning, another sunny one here in England, hope it's a lovely day wherever you are.
These drew my attention a few minutes earlier in the sunshine.

After seeing @AlainK beauties yesterday, I thought I would add these two for the Bonsai lovers. Took these at RHS Wisley 2016. Both Acer palmatum.
Just found them whilst looking through my photos. They were exhibited by Herons Bonsai.

Although to see a maple bonsai, it must be seen in winter, to observe the fine work of branching, which must have at least quaternary branches, and not be scarred or at least very few and very small.
Take a look at this 25-year-old maple, (always cultivated in a pot and was a cutter the size of a toothpick) in winter in which the work is seen throughout the years, although it still has a long way to go and how it looks later, in summer.

As you can see the delicate work done on the fine branching, and yet in summer only leaves are observed.

I've just been asked about pinks in my garden at this time of year, so thought I would take these two and put on this thread. Shirazz and Geisha, both holding their colours quite well.

@dangerine49, good afternoon J, they all look very happy. The lime greens are stunning. Not sure what Harry made of the wet stuff looking at his face, lol.

This is not a maple, not even an Acer pentaphylum, it's Vitex agnus-castus (see Wikipedia for the interesting etymology) :

    vitex-agnus-castus_200722a.jpg

I took a few other photos, but they were no good except these of two from Acer shirasawanum 'Autumn moon' seeds. You can see how different they are, one looks rather close to the original, the other one looks like a hybrid between A. palmatum and A. shirasawanum. In any case, I just love both ;-)

Still waiting for a picture of a third one, in-between that I gave to one of my nieces. I fear it may have not survived....

You will otice the foot of the magnificent maplemaniac (aka AK) in the right-hand bottom of the picture - LOL
