I have just taken these, some are babies (3yrs old) that are growing well now. Maybe ready for the ground in 2021. Ruslyn in the pink, Mikazuki, Hessei, Red Sentinal, Shishio improved and the colours just showing on my new Mystic Jewel.

Great photos D, is that pine straw /needles imported or from your own trees? It does help with acidity of the soil. I collect mine from a friends garden every Autumn.

Good morning J, I do believe it is important to have a selection of other shrubs and plants to compliment our maples. It does make them stand out more IMO. Lovely subtle colours of your dissectum's today J.

Good morning, I was asked a few weeks ago if I would post how some of my reds are doing in July, so as it's the 1st, here are a few in my garden today.
You will see that some are turning and although red in the cultivar name they are no longer that colour in July.
I am particularly pleased with Red Dragon and Red Feather this Summer.
Please do comment and ask about positions in my garden etc and I will gladly reply.

Lovely selection! I see what you mean about that Atropurpureum being much brighter than the Bloodgood!! It's a stunner! Now that I've seen yours I don't think I've ever seen one in a nursery before!

Morning. Yes it's pine straw/needles. I have large white pine in the yard. You are right, it's very good at keeping things acidic. I think im the only person that uses it for mulch around here. I'm from the south where it is plentiful and commonly used as mulch. When I say pine straw to someone up North where I stay now, the people are clueless! Then I would say, 'pine needles', lol. I laughed when I saw you wrote both.

I'm glad you enjoyed the bright colors this morning.

Your reds are looking amazing. I've never seen my Ariadne turn red. Also, your Ruslyn is looking terrific. Mine never really was pink at all this year and now it's basically green with crispy tips. Too much shade?

Good afternoon J, thanks for the compliment. I was saying to D @LoverOfMaples earlier how the miles btween us makes for different colours. I always notice your Ariadne is so different. But in a nice way as well. My Ruslyn in the pink gets quite a bit of morning sun then evening shade. Again D sent a photo this morning and his is so red. Yes you are probably spot on, too much shade to bring out the pink. Next year ????

    D,

My Ariadne is placed in a well shaded area with some morning sun. It's one of my favorites. The Ruslyn however is in a container. I moved it to a very secluded spot this year. I think it's time to transplant it in ground in a better spot this fall.

Hi again J , Ariadne is my favourite of all my maples, it's just so giving all through the seasons. I think it should be in everyone's collections.

    Hi Emery.

Thanks for the photos. Acer sempervirens is much more beautiful than I thinked.

How much do they measure approximately? And one more question, how is the growth rate?

    They are beautiful!

Do you know the emoticon with the eyes with hearts? Well that.

What precious maples. Those different shades of red are wonderful.

A couple branches on ' Geisha Gone Wild' shot out some bright red leaves recently that seem atypical at the moment.

As far as cheering up, a little bit goes a long way.
