Here is one of my favorite new purchases. It is an acer palmatum 'Dr Brown'. It has nice peachy pink brown leaves. I find it to have a warm feeling about the tree.

Dr Brown has lovely reddish brown early Spring color whose unique
hues are seen on few if any other cultivars.

    Thank you for sharing!

I just picked up a tiny new Dr. Brown from the Hardy Plant Society's sale, and I am very excited to watch it grow! They had older larger specimens that I thought were breathtaking. They have a silver shimmer over the reddish bronze leaves that are quite beautiful!

I can't find much information on it however; how sun-tolerant is yours?

The one in the original & second posting is planted in full sun and has not had any issues. It is a very nice tree/ it seems to be a slow grower which does not want to grow tall. The one is about 4' tall and my second one is about 30" tall. I like the taller tree. I pruned mine out to allow for more light to get through the tree since it can become a dense blob.
It does have a great pink/brown color which you will love or hate. I can't say it is popular with the masses but people do like to look at it.

    I added photo of it

My Dr. Brown has decided to rapidly grow ONE of its arms. Only one! I can't say that it's completely unattractive, but it's odd nonetheless!

I have found Dr Brown to have a long pendulium growing habit with a low compact shape.

I have added photos of the fall colors for 2011

Every time someone comes through my yard they always comment about how they like the soft pinkish brown color of this tree

    UPDATE (November 2018):

I purchased a Dr. Brown today, not knowing much about it. One couldnt help but be smitten with its Fall colour.

I am curious as how the specimens in this thread, from about 7 years ago. have progressed. Any updates?

I thought I would add my photos of this wonderful maple, from Spring to Autumn. I do keep it in a lot of shade.

Summer colour of my Dr Brown. It is changing rapidly to it's multiple colouring that is this cultivars habit. Faster this year 2020.
Photo taken today 16th July 2020.

31st July 2020, my Dr Brown is now turning. Leaf tips are showing why this cultivar has this name.

August 6th 2020 and extreme heat is forecast over the next few days, so I thought I would post photos of my dissectums before and after to show how they cope. This I feel can be useful for people considering buying a particular variety.

August 15th 2020, the photo diary continues as promissed. Everything apart from just a few have held up very well. The heavy rain over the past couple of days has helped a lot. I think we will get a reasonable Autumn show this year fingers crossed.
My Dr Brown has sprung to life after the refreshing rain on it's leaves. It was a close call for favourite in my garden this morning. But Brocade just pipped it.

August 24th 2020 and I am keeping the photo diary going the best I can. So much rain and tomorrow 70mph winds forecast. Will the leaves be there for October!!!??
The greens are holding well this year, but any day my Dr Brown will turn. So many have asked for this one to be kept an eye on, as they are considering it for their gardens.
I will post again very soon.

30th August 2020 and it is definitely getting colder. My maples are very happy now that the Summer heat has passed. They are all enjoying the early morning sun.
It was requested so I took this earlier. Holding it's greens very well.

I posted a picture of our Dr. Brown on May 30 2020 and here it is almost exactly 3 months later.

We are experiencing a very hot and dry summer but take my word for it, the foliage of this Dr. Brown is immaculate.

4th September 2020 and the days seem to be getting shorter and shorter, which is a bit too fast for me. Busy time of the year in the garden for us maple growers, with less daylight !!!
A morning with no dew or rain, but colours now popping up everywhere!!
Sunshine on my Dr Brown brought out the different shades of greens this morning.

9th September 2020 and new growth springing up everywhere. It so warm and today at 0800hrs it was 18°C.
Now the pinks are appearing in transition phase. Delicate and pretty IMO.
