Hi, are there 2 forms of Aka Shigitatsu Sawa being sold. One with leaves that are mostly red and the other with leaves that are red and green?
Here's my aka from this week and a pic of the stunning red it will go in the fall , same tree but last years red , spring leaf colour will start to fade shortly then go a deep green but still with the strong markings in the leaf. Now if i wanted to see a change in the colours now, just move into a sunnier spot and it will turn almost within the next week , added a few pics also of the same tree from years back mainly in the June months 2014/15 mainly in different areas before i realised this needs loads of shade.
With out fail every year the same intense red , would struggle to find a more deeper red than this in my garden come the fall, and i have some nice reds but this one is up there with the best.
Hi, I received a tree which was labeled 'Aka Shigitatsu Sawa'. It was in full sun in the nursery. Does this tree look like Aka Shigitatsu Sawa? Thanks
@SLR2009 , good morning, IMO you have AKA which is the red. I have Beni Shigitatsu Sawa which is far more green. Sumner colour on both does have green, but one more than the other.
These are my Beni and Shigitatsu Sawa this morning. As you see they are very green compared to your AKA. Photo 3 is of them together. The only reason I don't have AKA is room and I already have so many reds of other cultivars. But I would if I could, lol. A lot of people say that Beni and Aka are the same, but in my garden they are not. Hence why I say I do not have AKA. Hope that's of some help. D
