So I went to a nursery today to replace a rhododendron and this Baldsmith followed me home. Tried to sneak into the backyard before my wife saw me but she caught me. Uh-oh.

She sent me some signs to label the plants. (Pardon the French)

Lol.. I know the feeling only too well. Same story as me. ‘Rhododendron shopping’ The labels are brilliant. Great sense of humour.

Which one did you get btw? It’s a lovely deep purple. I picked up a Fantastica which I’m really looking forward to opening out.

It's a Purple Passion. I've got another one (dark pink) on life support which I have to put out of its misery.

    Went bee hunting too.

Good morning everyone, sometimes you do have to just sit amongst your maples in the Spring morning sunshine, birds singing and with a 'good' book plus a cup of coffee. It doesn't get any better IMO. ( what one to buy next) hmm!!

Sun was shining after my cup of coffee and dreaming of my next purchase, so took these photos. I have a different favourite every day, that's the beauty of maples, they are always changing. Today its Red Sentinal.
I have taken two of Autopurporeum from underneath with a blue sky background. Just to show the lovely shades of red with the sun shining through. Hope you like them.

Emery, I love your Campestre color, so vivid white and a tap of green. Well done!

Thanks! You should have seen it two years ago, it was horrible: tiny burnt leaves, reverting everywhere, it really looked like it was dying. I discussed it with my friend from the Royal Parks, he suggested the really hard cutback, on the theory that I was going to have to pull it if it continued as is, anyway.

I cut it down by about 75%, it looked very silly, but now showing how good his advice was.

@Atapi, the same here, but I was found out today, so endless chores for me.
I knew my morning coffee with my book was too good to be true to last.

Hi Acerholic, your Red sentinal is not the same as Twombly's Red Sentinal, correct?. The leaves are looked different than the TRS.
Have you tried Iro Iro (pic.1) or Alpenweiss(pic.2) or Abigail Rose(pic.3) if your luck is ran out with Hygasayama?.

Hum, I got mine almost five yrs ago and it doesn't grow much at all. Two yrs ago I moved it into a shade (underneath other larger Acer) then it looks a bit happy w/ less leaves burning but it still didnt grow at all. At least this yr the color shows much better. I was wondered if I should moved it into pot like Roebuk normally does.

Hi @Atapi, it seems everyone is experiencing strange weather, but this maybe the future way of things.
I myself have spent more time planting shade giving trees this last few years and IMO this is your best bet to do if at all possible.
That is a beautiful Orangeola btw.

This Hana Matoi is growing on one side so if you takes a pic from the weeping side, it looks quite interesting and beauty.

Acerholic, it was one of the first maple that my wife bought for me 15 yrs ago, it doesn't grow fast and my wife keeps pruning it every yrs keep it like a little umbrella, unfortunately summer is torture her so by falls time, there is not much leaves left to show :((
BTW, every time she prunes it, I have to walk away cause I can't take all the cuts she made to the tree but when I returned to clean up the debris; it is a beauty after all.
