I missed out on variegation day yesterday. So sad.

I would have posted Hana Matoi and the darker Pink Ballerina ;)

Couldn't help myself, Beni Shigitatsu Sawa had to have a place on the thread.
ROEBUK has got me all excited with his suggestion of Reticulated varieties today. I just love all of them.

I don’t have Beni. It’s lovely. Yes I have to admit that this is my favourite group. I’m looking forward to the revealing of his mystery dissectum.

Some nice reticulated pictures for you all, must admit they are all so sharp this year , even the amagi's are showing well, seeing luke as suggested dissectums for tomorrow will put the mystery one in there as well !! then it's in the right group :) The first ghost pic is from last year, not quite there yet this year will give a bit longer for this one.

Hi ROEBUK, lovely photos from you also. The reticulated varieties are just so much fun.
Did you guess my number 9 photo in my first list this morning?
My last guess on yours was posted very late last night as could not sleep thinking which one it was. And to leave the answer of it till tomorrow, cruel so cruel !! lol.

Ariadne and Peaches & Cream looking especially good today. Some other assorted stuff and shots of the new Moonfire foliage and a walk through the entrance to my backyard with the new addition in place.

The Heuchera and Hosta just caught my eye when I was looking for likely pics. Harry was out helping me plant the Moonfire but got bored and went back in for a nap.

24°C this afternoon, light rain now, and they forecast only 12-13°C next week. The famous "Saints de glace" as they are known here : traditionally, people wouldn't plant their tomatoes before 11-13 May because until these dates there could be a late frost.

anyway, Japanese maples like to be associated with Azalea. I tried to use some as bonsai, but here, it's too hot and dry in summer and since I water from the hose and the water is very hard here, I lost all those I tried in shallow pots. But I've got two that seem to be OK in bigger pots as long as I feed them anti-chlorosis fertilizer from time to time. I moved some of my trees/plants this afternoon for the guests (from 05/11) to appreciate the colours :

It's larch, Larix x eurolepis (Larix x marschlinsii for the purists), a Dunkeld larch.

It's so big i can't move it alone, I need one of my sons' help, and they come and visit me less and less often ;-)

It's a big one, about 1m40 or so and still in training and from the same batch from others I bought in 1994. To cut a long story short, here are pics of one of his sibling, about 30 cm tall. This one was planted in the ground, moved to a very dry spot, then put in a growbox whereas his little bother has always been grown in a "bonsai" pot :

Big brother : Larix / Larix x eurolepis 94-6 | Arbres, arbustes, bonsaï et plantes

Little brother : Larix / Larix x eurolepis 94-3 | Arbres, arbustes, bonsaï et plantes

I know nothing about spruce, very little about other conifers, but Larix is in-between deciduous and conifers, and I have some experience with Dunkeld larch, so if you want more info you can PM me so as not to steal this thread about... Maples !
