I HAVE A OLD APPLE TREE THE BASE IS ABOUT 10 INCHES AROUND AND BEFORE I BOUGHT MY HOUSE SOMEBODY CUT THE TREE BELOW THE GRAFT. IT GROWES VERY WELL BUT IT DOES NOT BEAR FRUIT JUST LITTLE PEA SIZE APPLES. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY CAN TELL ME IF I CAN GRAFT A BEAR ROOT TREE TO IT OR BRANCHES FROM A BEAR ROOT TREE TO IT? IF SO WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD AND HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT? MULEMAN340@SBCGLOBAL.NET

With our 'fuji apple' tree, we've grafted some red delicious scions onto it quite a while back & it's been giving us good tasting red delicious & the fujis as well. The grafting method we used, is wedge or cleft.Preferrably scion woods from last year growth. I find it easy to graft apple trees compare to others.

What do you call a "bear root tree" ?
Best things to do would be to find a scion of an apple's cultivar you like and graft it onto your rootstock.
