Are there any lyonothamnus floribundus growing in mild regions of southwest BC that anyone knows of? I’ve read that plants are tender when small but grow in hardiness with age. It might be worth trying in the most favourable microclimates of Vancouver Island?

According to Canada's Plant Hardiness Site there are 54 records entered for this species, but unfortunately no distribution map.

I don't know if these records there are actual observations or something else. But you may ask from the site's contact person.

Multiple specimens of some size are present in western WA.

That is intriguing. I'll definitely keep an eye out. I've seen some gorgeous specimens in Portland, Oregon. I'm hoping that some gardeners are experimenting with this one!

The Willamette Valley has colder winters than Seattle and Vancouver.
