    Hi,

Long shot but does anyone know of a palmatum cultivar that has a striking solid deep maroon/dark red purplish colour bark? The leaves have 5/6 lobes, like bloodgood dark red/purple leaves, but small, maybe 50/55mm across the the leaf. Very Upright tree, densely leaved, narrow spread of branches.. I’ve never seen it before..

    Kind regards
    Rich

You’re spot on thank you Roebuk..it’s about 9 foot, and growing fast, lovely tree...the bark is a very deep solid colour with a short central lobe in the middle of the leaf..very densely leaved..what’s odd is that I found a skeeters broom label in my garden that belongs to a much smaller tree, I know this because of the price on it, I recall picking it up but I can’t find the smaller skeeters broom tree anywhere..maybe the smaller tree was mis-labelled by the nursery.
I picked up a couple of bargain Wilson’s Dwarf’s yesterday, I picked one up last year but it was attacked terribly by aphids in the spring..but that’s coming back well now
