Hi does anyone on this forum have information on how to kill a Trumpet Vine?
The main plant has been cut down leaving about 12-16 inches of stump above the ground but new shoots keep emerging in many different areas in the garden. We've tried various methods to try to kill the plant including digging the new shoots whenever they emerge, to pouring boiling water on the main stump and surrounding areas, to drilling the stump and pouring concentrated herbicide into the trunk with no luck. We are researching electrocution now but not convinced this will be effective or safe.

Yes thanks, we've seen this, been there, done that! It still keeps on coming back to haunt in many different areas of the garden.

You may cover the area with something, that blocks sunlight and rain water from getting into the soil. The plant should eventually die, if its sprouts will not get sunlight and the soil dries out completely because of the cover.
If that is not an option, then systematic mechanical destroying all the sprouts should help. Just poke a spade at angle to the ground at every sprouting spot, so that the blade cuts through the sprout as deep as possible.
Much quicker and more radical method is excavating or bulldozing the area.
BTW, how large area is affected?
