    In partnership with Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Pacific Rim National Park Reserve

    Saturday May 11: Bioblitz at Pachena Bay (low tide is 0.2m @ 12:36)

    09:00 – 09:15 Welcome and introductions by Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre (meet at the Parks Canada Trailhead office at Pachena Bay)

    09:15 – 11:00 Guided forest walk focusing on plants, trees, insects, and birds – led by Dr. Brian Starzomski from the University of Victoria

    11:00 – 13:00 Guided beach walk focusing on marine invertebrates, algae, and shore birds – led by Dr. Brian Starzomski (UVic), Dr. Mindi Summers (University of Calgary) and Dr. Hugh MacIntosh (Royal BC Museum)

    14:15 – 15:00 Beach seine in the Pachena estuary focusing on marine fishes

    15:00 – 16:00 Independent exploration & kids scavenger hunt for shells, wrack, and ocean debris.

    16:00 – End of days activities
