ID Please: Ground cover plant

    This plant has literally taken over a flower garden. Not sure if it is weed/invasive species or something common. If desirable and knew what it is I can prune it way back or rip it out. Only about 8" high, haven't seen it flower.

    Thanks, that rings a bell, I planted some dollar store seeds last year and remember the name buttercup on the label. Think I will give it a heavy pruning.

    there are desirable varieties of buttercup

    Heavy pruning will help prevent flowering and seeding but it won't stop buttercup from spreading; something it does vigorously via rhizomes. There is no variety of common buttercup which would be welcome in my garden. I would make exceptions for the fairly rare native species but most invading our gardens are from elsewhere.
