Wildflowers: Very Large Flower

    What might this be? From Colombia. Flower is size of softball or larger. At about 1100m

    And maybe include Zingiberaceae in your search. It looks a little similar to Etlingera eliator, which is from Indonesia but seems to grow wild in tropical America, see Canal Llanero : BASTON DE PRINCIPE (etlingera eliator). Wikipedia says members of the genus are naturalized in Central America, doesn't mention South America. The shorter leaves on your plant are more similar to Etlinger venusta.
