I’ve had this cactus for about 6 months. In the last few weeks it started to get a few light spots on the side facing away from the window. The light patches are now all over one side of the cactus and the top. There are a few small black spots. The light areas are crunchy to touch.

Photos of the cactus 6 months ago, and the spots it has now attached.

Any ideas on what is causing this and if there’s anything that can be done to help the cactus??

    Thanks!

Not obvious. My first guess would be so called false spider mites because there is so much damage on the offset and close to the top. Some of them, dead or alive, can usually be spotted with a magnifying lens.

Thanks. We are now able to see small bugs on the plant, they are a very light brown colour. Tried to remove all those visible but now need to figure out best way to get rid of them.
