Hello all and thank you for allowing me to join the forum. I'm needing to ask a question about my paphiopedilum "midnight" orchid. She is my very first orchid, and things seemed to be going well. Her color was good and her leaves were ferm. I was not expecting her to go into spike as she was young but when she did I truly was extatic. I watched her carefully and though she was growing very slowly I had read that was normal so did not worry. Last night I came home and it looked as though the spike just below the bud had been pinched and it was hanging low like a broken neck. I just don't know what may have happened and I am devastated. Can anyone give me some advice?
Bud Blast Breaks your heart when this happens! Your plant looks OK---keep giving it good care and I bet it will give you a flower someday. Welcome to the Forum!
Thanks for the welcome It really has broken my heart, almost cried. Bud blast... I looked that up. Says it can happen from many factors. It did get cooler that night. Does that mean I need to remove it from that window completely? It's hard to find that sweet spot of just the right amount of indirect sun light.
