Flowering shrub near Colima volcano, Mexico

    area just south of Colima volcano, Colima State. photographed in September. Height to perhaps 3 m, lanky. Locally, quite common along roadsides.

    I may have posted in haste. This may be Calliandra calothyrsus. Can anyone verify, based on the photos?

    It looks so similar to Calliandra calothyrsus photos, but those leaves are double-pinnate, but these look like once-pinnate leaves.

    yes they are doubly divided though quite tightly so better seen in "ratty" foliage.

    Oh good! Then I think we've got this one. It's native to Central America too.
