As we approach another season of watering restrictions, what is the best way to water an established cedar hedge, 15 feet tall? Some sites indicate the roots spread as far away from the trunk as the height of the hedge. Other sites indicate the feeder roots are located at the drip line. Will a drip system along the drip line suffice? Thank you.

I asked @Egan Davis , who happens to be in the office today. Usually Thuja hedges have large root balls close to the base of the plant -- they don't extend outward as far away from the trunk as the height of the hedge.

So, yes, a drip system close to the base of the plant should suffice.
