Strange symmetrical thing on tree branch

    This appeared on the tree in the backyard this morning.
    It looks like a honeycomb but little tiny octagons. The whole thing is about an inch and a half across.
    What the heck is it???

    They seem like trouble, and I am tempted to scrape it off. I like stinkbugs, they're almost cute but I do have raspberries, blackberries and some citrus trees in pots.
    I don't want them sucking them all dry!

    Not seeing any images on that link, on either Firefox or Chrome. Hmm.

    Well, I think it'd be worthwhile to post to bugguide, see if you can get a positive ID before taking any action. Do let us know if you do!
