Blooms late April-early May; forms a shrub nearly 2 m tall x 2 m wide . Any suggestions about which cultivar this is? Growing in Niagara-on-the Lake, Ontario, Canada

    Reminds me of Prunus incisa.

There are a couple of Prunus incisa cultivars around. Little Twist (trademark name) is supposed to have zig-zag stems. 'Kojo-no-mai' looks similar to me. I haven't seen the flowers on them.

Ron, this plant has increased only slightly in the past 15 years, leading us to suspect that it may be well over 30 years old. This predates introduction of Little Twist by a long shot. From what I've read, there is a possibility that Little Twist and 'Kojo-no-mai' are one and the same...
